The Department of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at MMHRC was started in 2013 with the aim of delivering quality clinical services to patients suffering from respiratory diseases.The department caters to a wide spectrum of diseases of the chest, ranging from airway disorders like COPD (Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema) and bronchial asthma, infections like pneumonia and tuberculosis, pleural disorders, carcinomas of the respiratory tract, occupation-related lung disorders, interstitial lung diseases, sleep-related breathing disorders, etc.. Comprehensive care for Asthma and treatment for all forms of Tuberculosis (Pulmonary and Extrapulmonary) – Drug sensitive and Drug resistant (MDR-TB) are also given under pulmonology service.
A state-of-the-art Sleep Lab with a dedicated technician is available for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders. These disorders are treated by a team comprising a pulmonologist, an ENT physician and a neurologist.
